Hawzah News Agency- Azmi Abdul Hamid, the President of the Islamic Organizations Advisory Council in Malaysia, delivered a speech in an international webinar titled "Martyr Sayyed Ali Khamenei; The Imam of Unity, The Champion of Al-Quds, and the Martyr of the Holy Month of Ramadan" held by the World Assembly for Islamic Unity; He noted that we now have an image of a man whose life had a profound impact on the awareness of the Islamic world. “Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei was not only a political leader, but a symbol of resilience and commitment to the dignity of the ummah.” He added.
He continued to say that for decades, he was the loudest voice of Muslims and defended them with courage, paying great attention to justice. “Ayatollah Khamenei had a deep root in Islamic teachings, like many great figures in Islamic history. He began his life in the world of knowledge and thought.” He added.
“He believed that knowledge had a responsibility, and in addition to Islamic moral teachings, one should stand against injustice. Throughout his life, he had a firm belief that Islam is a force for freedom.” The Malaysian scholar noted.
Azmi Abdul Hamid asserted that Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that Muslim communities should not sacrifice independence for political goals. “This belief shaped the complete vision of his leadership. One of Ayatollah Khamenei's legacies was his continuous connection with the Islamic world. For him, unity was not just a slogan, but a strategic necessity and a moral obligation. He believed that the diversity of the Islamic world should be a source of power, not conflict.” He added.
The President of the Islamic Organizations Advisory Council in Malaysia emphasized that Sunni and Shia communities believe in a single Quran, a single Prophet, and a single moral mission. “Ayatollah Khamenei called on Muslims and leaders of the ummah to focus on the commonalities of the ummah.” He noted.
Azmi Abdul Hamid said that another legacy of Ayatollah Khamenei was the issue of Palestine and the liberation of Al-Quds. He spoke about justice for decades and emphasized that the Palestinian issue is not just a political dispute, but an ethical responsibility that encompasses the entire Islamic world.
The Malaysian scholar added that every year, on the occasion of International Quds Day, he would call for the liberation of Palestine and the defense of Al-Quds.
He stated,” Ayatollah Khamenei challenged the global injustice for many of his supporters across the Islamic world and reminded the oppressed that resistance is possible. He drew inspiration from the early history of Islam, the struggle of the Prophet of Islam (pbuh) and his sacrifices.”
